Mr. Joel "Joey" Wayne Waldrop, Jr., 48, husband of Teresa L.S. Waldrop, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC.
Born in Pickens County, a son of Joel Wayne Waldrop, Sr. and Miriam Watson Waldrop, Mr. Waldrop was a graduate of Pickens High School and Tri-County Technical College, where he earned his associate degree. He was employed with BMW and previously worked with the Department of Defense in England and Australia. Joey was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. In all that he had accomplished in life, being a Daddy, showing his love for his family, and being a living example of a Godly man were his first priorities.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are three sons, Kiley Waldrop and his fiancee', Marlee, Karson and Kwenton Waldrop, all of Pickens; two daughters, Kindele Childs and her husband, Cameron, and Kayla Waldrop, all of Pickens; two step-sons, Logan and Evan Williams, both of Pickens; three sisters, Jean Dillard and her husband David, of Liberty, Janet Laney and her fiance', Marty, of Liberty, and Joanna Compton and her husband, Bryon, of LaVista, NE; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Shannon Camp, and Tamara and Ed Wood.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Mountain View Baptist Church, Six Mile with Rev. Rick Hayes and Rev. Brian Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM Wednesday at the church, prior to the service.
The family is at the home of his parents, 388 Turner Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
