John Coleman Burgess, 79, of 100 Hayes Road, husband of the late Inez Garren Burgess, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late John and Rachel Redden Burgess, Mr. Burgess retired from Ryobi Corp. and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Alfred Burgess (Cindy) of Easley and David Burgess (Shirley) of Central; a daughter, Janet Phillips (Gordon) of Pickens; a brother, Albert Burgess of Pickens; a sister, Grace Robinson of Pickens; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Burgess was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 1:45 PM Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family is at the residence.
