- Easley, SC

John R. Burkhardt,Sr.,90, of 328 Laboone Road,and husband of Evelyn Ebey Burkhardt, passed away Tuesday May 15, 2012 at Hosanna Health and Rehab.

Mr. Burkhardt was born in Johnstown, PA., a son of the late William Peter and Mary Ann McTigue Burkhardt. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a press maching operator and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of W.W. II where he served in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of Saint Luke Catholic Church in Easley, SC.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, John R. Burkhardt, Jr., of Troy, Ohio, Bruce D. Burhardt, of Easley, SC, Brian T. Burkhardt, of Antioch, TN and Roger W. Burkhardt, of Powdersville, SC; two daughters, Ruby J. Jurkovic and Lori A. Worley, both of Powdersville, SC; two sisters, Frances Bader, of Ossining, NY and Teresa Scrivani, of Danbury, CT; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul B. Burkhardt; a daughter, Teresa B. Burkhardt; four brothers and 2 sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday at Christ The Servant at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 833 39th Street, NW, Canton, Ohio directed by the Schneeberger Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, prior to the mass, at the church.
