Rev. John Garnice Cater, 96, husband of seventy years to the late Kathleen Summerall Cater, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, November 8, 2021.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Jim Cater and the late Ollie Massingill Cater, Rev. Cater retired from Alice Manufacturing with fifty-one years of service and after retirement he was employed with Kentucky Fried Chicken for seven years. He was a member of Morning Star Independent Baptist Church and led the Truth for Youth Ministry.
Surviving are his son, Chubby Cater (Gail) of Easley; his daughter, Sharon Cater of Easley; a sister, Wekona C. Woods of Pickens; and his grandsons, Enoch Pugh and Nathan Pugh. In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Cater was predeceased by his brother, Eulon Cater; and three sisters, Ann Hayes, Nelta Bagwell, and Narvice Sweezy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2021 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Scroll to the video player below to view the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
