John Henry Chapman, 83, of 277 W. Old Pendleton Road, husband of Thelma Smith Chapman died Thursday, January 24, 2013.

Born in Central, he was a son of the late Elijah and Estella Rice Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a retired employee with Central Textiles and a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Central Church of Prophecy and loved his home, gardening and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, John Chapman (Cindy) of Central and Eddie Chapman (Judy) of Sandy Springs; his daughter, Gail Hughes (Steve) of Central; sister, Bonnie Bowen of Central; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Jolly Chapman, Eidson Chapman and Wallace Chapman; and sisters, Ellie Sheriff, Mildred Smith and Lucille Kelly.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday at Central Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Lonnie Donald officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Church of God of Prophecy.
