John D. Chism, Jr., 79, veteran in the US Airforce, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, TX on December 8, 1939, a son of the late John and Velma Chism.
Graduate of Tri-County Tech and Limestone College. John retired after 30 years as a Planning Engineer with GE of Greenville. Gardening and Genealogy were two of his top hobbies. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage.
He was a member of East Clemson Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents John was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn. John joined her for eternity on what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary. Others waiting his arrival included a son, John D. Chism III; four brothers: Wesley, Ray, Doyle, Willard and one sister Vivian Hatley.
He is survived by a son, Joey Chism of Clemson; daughters, Stephanie Davis (George) of Central, Kim Chism-Moore (Thomas, Jr.) of Charleston, and Jennifer Misko (David) of Simpsonville; three grandchildren; Krystal and Kelly Rae Cannon of Clemson and Sabrina Moore of Charleston. Two siblings, Henry Chism of Greer and Virginia McAbee of Travelers Rest.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Saturday, July 13 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Rd., Central with burial following in Memory Gardens, in Clemson.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 PM prior to the funeral also at Duckett Robinson.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
