Mr. John Alvin Clark, Sr., 90, husband of Virginia Starkey Clark, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home.
Born in Pickens County, the son of the late John Elbert and Annie Bishop Clark, Mr. Clark was a retired supervisor with US Finishing and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran having served in WWII.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of sixty-seven years, are a daughter, Cathy Bhattacharjee (Sam) of Houston, TX; ; a grandson , Brandon Bhattacharjee; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Bhattacharjee. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was predeceased by a son, John A. Clark, Jr.; three brothers, James, W.B., and Guy Clark; and two sisters, Dorothy Hudson and Lucille Green.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Reverends Paul Turner and Jim Ed Looper officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
