 John David Datko, Sr., age 69, of Simpsonville, husband of the late Debra Cobb Datko, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at his home.

 Born in Canton, OH, he was a son of the late Andrew Phillip Datko, Sr., and Lillian Yakubisin Datko.

 Mr. Datko was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School in Canton, OH. He was an entrepreneur who built a decades-long, family-run flooring business, instilling in his children a passion for skilled work and craftsmanship. He was also an animal lover who enjoyed camping and spending time outside, especially near the lake or the ocean.

 John is survived by his children, John Datko, Jr. (wife Mary Catherine) of Easley, Ryan Datko (wife Lindsey) of Simpsonville, and Alison Datko (husband Zach Waite) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Braden Datko, Emma Datko, and Hunter Datko; sisters Annette Mankin of Rochester, WA and Bernadette Yohe of Canton, OH; and his first wife Karen Chismar Datko of Mauldin. 

 In addition to his second wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a grandson, Carson Datko; and his brother, Andrew Phillip Datko, Jr.

 A memorial service to honor John’s life will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley, SC 29640.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville, SC 29607 or greenvillehumane.com.
