John Ernest Evans, 72, of Central, passed away at Cottingham Hospice House on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
Mr. Evans was born November 16, 1941 in Pickens County and was a son of the late Warren W. and Nelle Holden Evans.
He was retired from Clemson University as an electrician, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and a member of Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Rampey Evans; a daughter, Sherrie Durham (Daniel); the joys of his life, grandsons, Andrew and Alex Durham; sister, Janice Whitten; brother, Dan Evans (Doris); and special friends, Norm and Joan Baldwin.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Max Evans and a brother-in-law, A. C. Whitten.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 P. M. until 1:45 P. M. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, 2101 Six Mile Highway, Central, SC 29630 or Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Rd, Seneca, SC 29672 or Oconee Christian Academy, 150 His Way Circle, Seneca, SC 29672.
