John Berry Faile

Mr. John Berry Faile, 71, of 148 Wedgewood Drive, husband of the late Mary Lou Pace Faile, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, S.C., Mr. Faile was a son of the late Jether and Ethel Cauthen Faile. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1954. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at USC in 1958 and a Masters Degree in Education from Clemson University in 1976. Mr. Faile taught chemistry, physics and astronomy at T.L. Hanna High School, having retired in 1996. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, an historian, astronomer, philatelist, and music lover. John was a voracious reader and world traveler.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Debbie Faile of Cornelius, NC and Jim and Susan Faile of Asheboro, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and David Haslam of Midland, MI; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Carolyn Faile of Lancaster; one sister and brother-in-law, Jane Faile and Wayne Gautreau, of Mentone, Alabama; six grandchildren Joe and Elizabeth Faile, Alex and Catherine Haslam, Cooper and Julia Faile; and his loving companion, Allene Gamble.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Bill Childs officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM Friday evening at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickens County Humane Society, 500 Five Forks Road, Liberty, SC 29657.
