John Charles Hendrix, 75, of 710 James Road, passed away Friday September 11, 2015 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late William Hurston Hendrix and Rose Robinson Hendrix.

Mr. Hendrix was retired from the Greenville News after 41 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Bethesda UMC and the Berean Sunday School Class. He also was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 210, and a member of the Wren-Powdersville Ruritan Club. He was a US Army Veteran who loved Nascar Racing, fishing and smoking cigars with his friends.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Sara Billington Hendrix; a son, John Charles Hendrix, Jr. (Lisa) of Belton; a grandson, Paul Charles Hendrix of Belton; a brother, William Hurston Hendrix II (Pat) of Greenville; a sister, Patricia Alice Stockton of Greenville; and nephews, William H. Hendrix III, David Allen Hendrix, Steven Bradley Hendrix and Robert Stockton.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Scott Hendrix and a nephew, John Robert Hendrix.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Bethesda UMC with burial to follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda UMC, 516 Piedmont Road Easley, SC 29642 or The American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way Greenville, SC 29615.

The family will be at the home.
