Mr. John Welmer Lyons, 88, husband of Wanda Gravely Lyons, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014 at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville.
Born in Anderson County, the son of the late Artice and Minnie Orr Lyons, Mr. Lyons retired from Roadway Express with thirty-one years of service and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of thirty-three years, are two sons, Charles D. Lyons (Debbie) of Greenville, and Robert Lyons of Easley; a daughter, Gwen Benjamin of Greenville; and a special friend, Rene Roberson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lyons was predeceased by two sons, Danny and Richard Lyons; and two grandchildren, Tina and Dana Lyons.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in the Mt. Airy Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family is at the residence.
