John A. Martin

John Arthur Martin, 83, of 220 Woodfield Drive, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Manna Health and Rehab in Pickens.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Martin was the son of the late William Roy and Frankie Nuckols Martin. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1951, and he received a B.S. degree in Industrial Management from Auburn University in 1958. Following his work as Plant Manager with GTE (now Verizon) in Huntsville, Alabama, he moved to Easley and retired from ECP in Liberty.
Mr. Martin was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir for over twenty-five years. In addition, he was a member of the Mt. Olivet Sunday School Class and the Finance Committee for years. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Era, he also was a member of the American Legion Post 52. Mr. Martin served Meals on Wheels and he enjoyed exercising at the YMCA.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Fallin Martin of the home; a son, John A. Martin, Jr. (Manuela) of Durham, NC; two daughters, Mary Frances Martin of Grovetown, GA and Teresa Martin Nash of Easley; four grandchildren, Mary Ann Crews (Giarred), Kendrick Martin Baxter (Carmen), Austin Nelson Nash and Viviana Erika Martin; and one great-grandchild, Carter Davis.
Memorial services will be 3:30 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Dr. Rodney Powell officiating. The Mt. Olivet Sunday School Class of Easley First United Methodist Church will serve as the escort of honor.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
