John Vincent McGarry, 73, of 236 Buchanan Circle, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at An Med Health, Anderson, SC.
Born in Mesa, Arizona, John was a son of the late Charles McGarry and Gert Acedo Carter. He had a long career in emergency services having served as a firefighter, EMT, paramedic and recently retired after 23 years as the Fire Marshal for the City of Clemson. John was a US Air Force veteran and was of the Catholic faith.
He was predeceased by his parents and close childhood friend Bruno Reynoso of Santa Clara, CA.
Surviving are his wife, Laura "Lauren" Hacker McGarry of the home; sons, Mark McGarry (Patty) of Gilroy, CA, Shawn McGarry (Jaime) of Syracuse, UT and David McGarry of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Lori Chavers (Sid) of Sunnyvale, CA; and grandchildren, Sarah, Kelly, Ryan, Ashley, Nickolas, Chad and Timmy.
Memorial services will be 1 PM, Saturday, January 26th in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SC Fire Marshal's Association, PO Box 255, Greer. SC 29652, note John McGarry Memorial Scholarship Fund.
