John William Medgyesy

April 27, 1939 — September 7, 2023

Easley, South Carolina

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence on September 7, 2023. He was born on April 27, 1939, in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary. John will always be remembered for his exceptional cooking skills, which brought joy to the lives of all those who had the pleasure of tasting his delicious meals.

After immigrating to the United States, John dedicated many years of his life working as a supervisor machinist. His commitment and expertise were commendable, earning him the respect of his colleagues. In addition to his successful career, John served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Outside of work and military service, John found immense happiness in spending time with his family and friends. An avid reader, he could often be found thumbing through volumes of history, finance magazines, and the occasional poetry collection. John also had a passion for nature and enjoyed working in his yard and bird watching. Feeding birds brought him great delight as he marveled at their graceful presence. John had an appreciation for history and was an enthusiastic collector of coins, cameras, and tools. Each piece held a special significance to him, connecting him to different eras and cultures throughout time.

Above all else, John cherished his role as a husband to Donna Medgyesy, a father to Andy Medgyesy and Matt Medgyesy, and a beloved grandfather to Owen Medgyesy, Audrey Lynn Medgyesy, Makenna Medgyesy, Hayden Medgyesy, and Grayson Medgyesy. His love for them was immeasurable and served as the foundation of their family bond.

Throughout his life's journey, John was supported by family members who preceded him in death; his parents John and Veronica Molnar Medgyesy and his cherished sisters Rita and Veronica Medgyesy. Their love provided unwavering support and comfort during both joyful and challenging times.

John's warm and welcoming personality made him a beloved figure within his community. His humor was one-of-a-kind and will never be forgotten. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and love. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
