Mr. John A. Shafer II, 82, of Easley, husband of Mary Anne Sims Shafer, entered into Eternal Life, Wednesday, August 10th at Foothills Retirement Community of Easley, SC.

Born in Allentown, PA on June 2, 1934 and was the son of the late Celeste Bleiler Shafer and John H.E. Shafer.John loved spending time with his three grandsons, helping coach their baseball teams and attending all their games, traveling to many states and Puerto Rico.   He loved trains and had an extensive train collection.   He was very passionate about the Emmaus Fire Co., which he was a volunteer for more than 30 years, starting as a fire fighter and retiring as the 1st Asst. Chief.   John served on the fireman's relief as Secretary and President for many years.   He was Emmaus Borough Councilman for 8 years.   He was a Mason with the Emmaus Masonic Temple Lodge #792 for more than 30 years.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years, and the reserves for many years.Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, are his son, John A. Shafer III, of Allentown, PA; daughter, JulieAnne Shafer Godusky, of Bowers, PA; grandsons, Dean Warren Godusky, Darryl John Godusky and Codie John Shafer.Services will be held in Pennsylvania.
