John Richard Smith, Sr., 81, husband of the late Barbara Oates Smith, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family.
Born in Easley, a son of the late J.B. Smith and the late Zella Ann Ferguson Smith, he was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. John was a security guard for American Security, where he retired after more than thirty years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Easley.
Surviving is a son, John R. "Rick" Smith, Jr.; daughters, Julie Smith and Jennifer S. McCarson (David), all of Easley; and a granddaughter, Taylor Quinn McCarson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC 29642.
