John G. Such Sr., 83, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, husband of 52 years to Mary Margaret Such, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late John R. Such and Mary Margaret Lukac Such. John, or “Suchie” as he was known early on to friends and family, was a quiet man full of wisdom. He served in the National Guard earlier in his life and became a draftsman and a piping engineer. When his oldest sons were younger, he enjoyed coaching them in soccer. Later in life, he moved from New Jersey to South Carolina, where he enjoyed traveling with his loving wife and youngest son, making a lot of memories at Myrtle Beach and Lake Hartwell. As time went on and he had grandsons, his new nickname became “Poppy.” Poppy was a devoted family man who put all his efforts into work and spending time
with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Such (Lincy) of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and John Such Jr. (Yvette) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Nikole Such, Sara Such, Nathaniel Such, Angela Such, John Thomas Such, Bryson Such, and Jezreel Thomas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Todd Such.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road to be followed by a celebration of life at the Warehouse at Vaughns at 2 PM on 109 W Trade Street in Simpsonville, SC.
