John Watson Swaney, 66, of 516 West Queen Street, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his home.


Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late John Henry and Ruby Hooper Swaney, he was a retired brick mason, former employee with City of Clemson and a member of East Clemson Christian Fellowship.



Surviving are his wife, Patricia King Swaney of the home; four daughters, Donna Ruth Edmond and husband, George, Patty Annette Pruitt and husband, Lloyd, and Julie Beatrice Vanadore and husband, Dwain, all of Pendleton and Lori Ann Gambrell of Greenville; one brother, Luke Woody Swaney of Pendleton; three sisters, Patricia Hensley of Harden, NC, Johnnie Frances Waters of Augusta, GA and Hallie Michelle Barnes of Abbeville; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday at East Clemson Christian Fellowship with burial in Memory Gardens.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons.


The family is at the home.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
