John Charles Watt, Jr., 98, husband of the late Bettie Todd Watt, of Easley, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Gladys Evans and John Watt, Sr.
Mr. Watt graduated from Anderson Boys High School and later the Carolina School of Commerce, which later became Forest College. He retired from Wometco Food Service of Anderson after thirty years of service. He held several positions during his years there, the last being Office Manager.
Mr. Watt proudly served in the U.S. Navy over 2 years during World War II and held the rank Gunner's Mate Third Class.
Mr. Watt was a charter member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of Ushers, clerk, deacon, Chairman of Pulpit Committee and was a member of the Men's Bible Class and later, the Charles Mauldin Class.
Mr. Watt is survived by daughters, Annette Roach and Beverly Hopkins (Dan), both of Easley; a brother, Marion Watt (Mildred) of Anderson; a sister, Linda Minish; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Neil Roach; a great-grandchild; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
