John William Young, Jr., 97, formerly of Central, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Cannonwood Villas in Tiger, GA.

Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was a son of the late John William and Helen Gertrude Lynn Young. John was a 1943 graduate of Clemson College and was a retired Lt Col in the US Air Force. Following retirement from the Air Force he worked in Research and Development at Clemson University.

Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline (Robert) Patrick of Loganville, GA and Patricia Lynn (Sam) Bass of Clarkesville, GA; son, Patrick L. (Charlotte) Young of Chatsworth, GA; brother, David R. Young of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Chad Young, Lynn Watson and her husband, Shane, Lee Patrick; great grandchildren, Riley Patrick, Sean Watson .

Preceding John (Jack) in death are his wife, Mary Young and son Patrick Lee Young, brother, David R. Young.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Wednesday in the Chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, with entombment with full military rites to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Garden Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
