John Dale Zugg

John Dale Zugg, 63, of Liberty, beloved husband of Violet Marie Wengerd Zugg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Born on December 27, 1962, in Beirut, Lebanon, he was adopted by missionary parents, the late Betty Jean Clay Zugg and the late Rev. Percy Van (PV) Zugg. He accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized by his father in Beruit at a young age. John was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and was a man of strong faith. He was adored by his family who will miss him greatly.

John earned a bachelor’s degree from Norris Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He retired as an inspector with Drive Automotive.

John had a passion for cars, rodeos and football. In his last months, he would not talk much about any of these. The one thing that would light up his face was seeing his two granddaughters’ faces when they would come to visit and share a meal. His appetite always seemed much stronger during their visit. To Gabby and Sarah, keep the memories of “Papa” close to your hearts. Someday very soon, you will get to see him completely healed. No tubes or wheelchair, but running and playing with you both in Heaven.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by mother-in-law, Shirley Zook Wengerd and sister-in-law, Valerie Renee Wengerd.

In addition to his loving wife of 42 years, he is survived by daughters, Andrea Marie Calderon and Lindsey Hope Zugg (Jon Williams); son, John Mark Zugg; granddaughters, Gabriella “Gabby” and Sarah Calderon; sister, Diana Zugg and brothers, Paul Van Zugg (Mary) and Daniel Zugg.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Flowers and plants will be accepted and appreciated.
