Johnson Whitner Link, 81, husband of Mickey Hughes Link, of 205 Tabor Street, died Friday, May 5, 2006 at his residence.

He was born in Anderson on September 14, 1924, a son of the late John F. and Sallie White Link. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and was a veteran of WWII. He retired as Chief of Police from Clemson University after 33 years of service. He was a member and Deacon of East Clemson Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are; two daughters, Judy Link and Sally Fowler and her husband, Jim, of Clemson; 2 sons, Johnson Link and his wife, Gennie, of Clemson and Alan Link and his wife, Didi, of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Smith and husband Rusty, Jay Link III, Hannah, Jessica, and Katherine; a great grandson expected in July; a sister, Dessie Mulliken of Pendleton; 3 special nieces Sue Ellison Owen, Frances Ellison Harper and Cathy McCullough. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, John, Ray, Vernon, and Hoyt; sisters, Montez Ellison and Leora Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, at East Clemson Baptist Church with Reverends Ray Campbell and Bill Moseley officiating, with burial to follow in Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.

The family is at the residence.
