Joseph Albert Camille Belliveau, 76, of Easley, South Carolina, and formerly of Boxborough, Massachusetts, succumbed to cancer at his home on Saturday, December 10, 2016.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean (Ronald), his three children, Julie, Linda, and Michael, his seven grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Cassandra, Megan, Sarah, Chloe, and Samuel, and one great grandchild, Caleb.
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the youngest of twelve children to Placide Alphonse Belliveau and Marie Bella (Goguen) Belliveau, he is also survived by one brother and six sisters, who referred to him as Cam or Camille, as well as his many loving nieces, nephews and other friends. Joe was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Joe, fondly nicknamed "Bop" by his grandchildren, was a passionate man who enjoyed being outside, especially working in his yard and chopping firewood. For 26 years until his retirement, he worked for Digital Equipment Corp. as a Quality Control Manager. His job provided him the opportunity to travel the globe, and he spent time in Southeast Asia and Puerto Rico, often accompanied by his wife. Earlier in his career, he was in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving time on the USCG Woodruff, a buoy tender and icebreaker stationed on Lake Superior. He also worked as a NASA contractor in Houston during the Gemini and Apollo programs, including the Apollo 11 moon landing. In retirement, he enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, golfing, and camping with his wife in their motor home. Joe was always there to help friends and neighbors with their outdoor projects.
A private memorial service will be held.
