Joseph Irving Brown Jr. aka "Jay", "Joe" passed away suddenly in Central SC on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at the age of 58.
Joseph was survived by his wife Debra Lee Brown of Central SC, his Mother Barbara Ann Lawson Brown of Newport News Va., his brother Edwin Lawson Brown and his wife Catherine , niece Amy Hernandez and her husband Eduardo, nephew Matthew Brown and his wife Jacqulin of Allen TX, his stepdaughter Hope Mullinax and her husband Trey of Pendleton SC, his daughter in law Jennifer Parson of Pelzer SC, his grandchildren Natalie and Harrison Mullinax, Emily, Haley and Megan Parson and his great grandchild Charlee Mullinax. He is preceded in death by his Father Joseph Irving Brown Sr. of Newport News Va. and stepson Jason Parson of Central SC.
Joseph was born on June 13th1959 in Atlanta Ga. to Joseph Irving Brown Sr and Barbara Ann Lawson Brown. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1977. He graduated from Denbigh High School in 1978 and was an avid member of the Denbigh High School Band where he was a trumpet player. He then went to work for Busch Garden where he was a specialist for the animals and then transferred to the Columbia Zoo. After his time spent at the Zoo he started his career in pest control at Steritech. Joseph then worked as a Senior pest control specialist at Ecolab where he retired.
He married his sweetheart, Debra Lee Brown on June 22nd 2007. Prior to their marriage they had welcomed their five grandchildren whom they spent a lot of quality time with. Joseph has always tried to instill in them the joys of camping and spending quality time together outdoors. He was a big fan of Sebring races, and Nascar races. His most popular quotes were, "Cool Beans", "At any rate…" and "theoretically". Joseph enjoyed reading mysteries.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Old Hepsibah Baptist Church, 409 South Friendship Rd. Seneca SC 29678. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
