Joseph Henry Day

Joseph "Joe" Henry Day, 84, of Easley, passed peacefully with his family by his side, Wednesday, May 4, 2016, and was the husband to Patsy Louise Cuddy Day.

Born in Pickens County to the late Warren Butler Day and Laura Gilstrap Day.

Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring in 1968, and served during two wars and was a POW for 29 months in Korea.   He worked for Duke Energy for 23 years before retiring in 1991.   Joe was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing, and cherished spending time with his family.   He was a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years along with his son, David Day (Susan) of Pelzer; daughter, Penelope Hyder (James) of Dacusville; sister, Lilly Sherriff of Easley; grandchildren, Misty Oliver (Marty), Sunshine Dennis (Warren), Jimmy Hyder (Toni), and Charlotte Benge (Clyde); eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7th at 3:00PM in Robinson Funeral Home, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.   Burial will follow in Day Family Cemetery in Easley.

Family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:45PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted at the funeral home.
