Mr. Joseph Henry Retzer, 94, of 804 W. Main Street, husband of the late Jessie Mae Rollins Retzer, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his home.
Born in Rochester, PA, a son of the late Gustavus A. and Vesta Jones Retzer, Mr. Retzer was formerly employed with Easley Heating and Plumbing, Kris Mechanical and Chastian Supply and a member of Easley First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Army Air Corps and was a former member of the Easley Civitan Club.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Rosemary Retzer, Mike and Denise Retzer, all of Easley; four grandchildren, Michael Retzer, Joseph Retzer (Jessica), Brittany Retzer and Ginny McJunkin (Ernest); and one great-grandson, Wyatt McJunkin; and by his caregiver, Lolita Holloway. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Retzer was predeceased by three brothers, Bill Retzer, Newton Retzer and John Retzer, and by a sister, Ruth Blackmon.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Jim Correll officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
