Joseph Calvin Summey

Joseph Calvin Summey, 90, of Greenville SC passed away September 18, 2019. Calvin was the son of the late George and Mae Summey. He was born and raised in the upstate of Pickens County in the area know by many as Calhoun. He moved to Mauldin in 1954 as manager of Mauldin Lumber Company and also Design Homes. In 1974 he formed th' Lumber Yard, Inc. and worked until his retirement. He also served on the Mauldin Planning Commission, was a member of Greenville Wesleyan Church and helped plant and build Mauldin Wesleyan Church, and was a member of Homeland Park Baptist Church in Anderson, SC. He enjoyed a lifetime of woodworking, camping, watching Clemson football and traveling through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains.

Surviving are his son Joseph Calvin "Buddy" Summey (Sheri); daughters, Margaret Rose Fennell (Grady) of Liberty, Judi Brantley of Simpsonville, SC; four grandchildren, Dawn Fisher, Josh Fisher (Natalie), Jessica Williams and Molly Smith (Eric); five great grandchildren, Logan, Ally, Ruth, Elsey and Sadey; and a niece Barbara Jane Merchant of Greenville, SC.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Ann Summey Merchant and a daughter Carol Summey.

Graveside committal services will be 11 AM, Monday, September 23, 2019 at Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:50 PM, Monday at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 1801 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC 29607 with Memorial Services to follow at 5 PM.
