Joseph Wilton Bandy
Easley, SC
Joseph Wilton Bandy, beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019.
He was born in Woodbine, Georgia on November 9, 1942 to the late Mr. and Mrs. (Irene McCall) Wilton Claude Bandy. He was a graduate of McCormick High School and Clemson University. He was predeceased by his brother, John Harvey Bandy; his sister, Harriett Elizabeth Bandy; and twin sons, Timothy Scott and Christopher Michael Bandy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Corley Bandy; his sons, Joseph Christian Bandy (Maggie), and Michael Brandon Bandy (Carin); and daughter, Angela-Leigh Elizabeth Bandy (David). He is also survived by his six grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Corley and Arielle Marlow, JT and Carter Bandy, Bryce Laboon and Braxton Bandy. Joe is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bandy (Jay), and brothers-in-law, Dr. David Corley (Fran) and Edwin Corley (Annie Laura); plus nieces and nephews.
Joe had retired from Albany International where he had been a sales engineer and even though his work took him away from home, he would always make the effort to be at home for any event that involved his children.
He was a true Clemson fan and had received a football scholarship to play for the Tigers upon high school graduation. Although he was plagued with kidney disease and unable to play the game his heart was forever for the Clemson Tigers. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing and fishing with dear friends and held fond memories of golfing trips along South Carolina's coast, and trips out west where he trout fished. He treasured hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and riding the rapids of the Colorado River. One of his favorite spots was N. Litchfield Beach where he enjoyed being with his family. His Heavenly father blessed him with a loving brother who unselfishly donated one of his kidneys so that Joe could experience all these good times and he was so grateful.
Joe was an active member of Easley First United Methodist Church and cherished the fellowship of our pastors (present and past) and all our church members of the Path Finders Sunday School Class for members 25 to 35 years of age.
After a long and hard fight, he graciously passed away and will rejoice in heaven with our Heavenly Father and loved ones who preceded him.
