Joshua Wade "Josh" Roper, 21, of 116 Hudson Street, Easley, formerly of 106 Rhonda Road, Pendleton, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at his residence.
"Opie" as he was known by the many that loved him, was born in Anderson County on June 6, 1993 to Timothy Wade Roper and Sharon Rose Beasley Stephens and attended Pendleton High School. Josh was an avid Go Cart Racer, having won many championships in South Carolina and Georgia. He also loved fishing, riding four-wheelers, boating, and anything else in the outdoors.
Josh is survived by his father; Timothy Wade Roper; his mother, Sharon Rose Stephens and her husband Glen; a brother, Kyle Richey of the home; two half-sisters, Kayla and Megan Kelly, both of Central; his maternal grandmother, Rachel Ann Stalnaker; and his paternal grandfather, Arthur Roper. Josh is also survived by his uncles; Andy Roper (Shirley), of La France; Robert Roper (Tracie), of Pendleton; Mr. and Mrs. Noah Beasley, of Belton; Mr. and Mrs. Chad Beasley, of Hendersonville, NC; Ken Beasley of Anderson; and Jamie Pittman of Pickens; one cousin; Drew Roper of Central; and his god-mother; Tracy Hart Hix of Pendleton. Josh also leaves behind a very special companion, his dog Ginger.
Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; Kenneth Jerry Beasley, and his paternal grandmother, Edna Mae Roper.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Faith Fellowship Church in Pendleton with the Rev. David Kay and Rev. Mark Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Clemson.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
