Joy Frady Boltz

Joy Frady Boltz, 72, of Easley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this world on December 13, 2025. Born on February 13, 1953, in Greer, South Carolina, to Claude and Zealous Frady, Joy touched the hearts of many with her fiery spirit, unwavering love, and generous nature.

Joy was a giving mom in every sense of the word. Her children remember her kindness and thoughtfulness fondly; she had a remarkable knack for appearing just when she was needed most. With a warm smile and open arms, she would deliver exactly what was needed, be it an encouraging word or a physical item; you could always count on her. Her devotion to her family was evident not only in these gestures but in her everyday actions, always demonstrating a love that knew no bounds.

Becoming a grandmother was the highlight of Joy’s life. She cherished her role as “Ma-Joy” and found immense joy in spoiling her grandbabies. While she had always focused on raising her children with healthy habits, that role melted away into pure delight when it came to her grandkids. She was known for going above and beyond with an abundance of treats and junk food, bringing lightness and laughter to their moments together.

Her spirited personality reflected her striking red hair. Joy was a strong woman whose love ran deep, an unwavering force once she welcomed someone into her heart. Those lucky enough to know her experienced firsthand her passion for life, vibrant energy, and a memorable sense of fun. Many evenings were spent around their kitchen island playing cards, eating food, and having a great time. Her children tell of a joyful summer night spent playing one of their mischievous water gun fights she engaged in with her children. Sneaking around with cups of water, she delighted in these playful moments, demonstrating her playful spirit. One such adventure included a surprise from her son, who, while hidden on the roof, managed to drench her with a trash can full of water after being lured outside by her daughter. Her laughter rang out, solidifying this cherished memory forever.

Joy shared 37 wonderful years of love and partnership with her husband, Porter Boltz. Their journey began at the Gaslight Inn, and their bond flourished through countless shared experiences. Despite Porter’s travel commitments for work, Joy consistently made time to prepare special meals when he returned home, a testament to her caring nature and commitment to their relationship. Their love for adventure led them on frequent road trips, creating memories that the family would hold dear forever. Annually, they would gather their loved ones and travel to Myrtle Beach to celebrate Thanksgiving, a cherished tradition that will undoubtedly be carried on, echoing Joy’s legacy for years to come.

Joy leaves behind her son, Michael Boltz, her daughter Casey Davis (Matt), her grandchildren, Charley Grace Davis and Porter Matthew Davis, and two sisters, Marty Howell and Kay Evans (Craig).

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Porter C. Boltz, and two siblings, Niles Frady and Doris Good.

The family will gather at a later date around their kitchen island with family and friends to reminisce and celebrate Joy. Until then, “Wa” from Joy and all of her family.
