Joy Summers Harwell, 82, died August 14, 2016 at AnMed Health Center.


Joy was the loving wife of R. Lynn Harwell for 61 years.


Born in Frederick, Oklahoma, Joy was the daughter of the late Earl C. and Wanda May Summers. Joy was a longtime realtor with ReMax Foothills and served as a PastPresident of the Tri County Board of Realtors. Prior to her career in real estate not only did she balance being the loving mother of three children, she was a great partner with her husband in their commercial farming business. Among her many responsibilities she drove the farm tractor, grain truck and assisted with anything that needed to be done. Joy truly lived her name by sharing the gift of hospitality while enjoying gardening, playing the piano, watching birds, cooking and decorating. She was a longtime member of Clemson First Baptist Church.


Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two daughters, Kristy Lyn Harwell of Seneca and Karil Harwell Tyler and husband Herb of Clemson; brother, Jerry M. Summers of Centennial, Colorado; and grandchildren, Michael Lynn and ChristopherScott Tyler.


In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Kurt Summers Harwell;grandson, David Allen Tyler and her brother, Earl P. Summers.


Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 21, 2016 in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, and the family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the S.C. Botanical Gardens, Attn:  Donations, 150 Discovery Lane, Clemson, SC 29634-0174.
