Joyce Adkins, 82, of Clemson, SC, died on November 8, 2014, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.

Born on September 13, 1932, in Cordele, GA, she attended West Crisp High School and was class valedictorian. In 1949, she married Theodore Adkins, Jr. and they had 3 sons. Joyce was an entrepreneur establishing a typing service for dissertations shortly after moving to Clemson in 1958. Her typing skills became legendary. She graduated from Clemson University in 1973, earning a BA degree in English. Joyce's Typing Service became Joyce's Print Shop when she officially opened her doors in downtown Clemson. Ted and Joyce were known for their dedication to the highest quality service and printing products. Joyce sold the business and "retired" to volunteer at Central Elementary School in addition to assisting other entrepreneurs with their business ventures. Joyce began another career with Hubbard-�Young Pharmacy, retiring for the 2nd time at age 80. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Clemson, serving in a variety of volunteer positions.

Joyce was a member of the Clemson Lions Club, having recently completed a one year term as President, and maintained her membership in and support of the South Carolina Pest Control Association. Theodore preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Randall and Teresa, Dale and Marlene of Clemson, SC, and Gary and Leonette of Raleigh, NC; two sisters and their husbands (Laverne and Stanley and Emma Lee and Howard); one brother and his wife (Glenn and Kay); four grandchildren (James Randall (JR), Brian, Kristyn, and Brooklynn); five step�grandchildren; and five step�great grand children. A long time resident of Clemson, Joyce was known by many. Her grandchildren enjoyed counting the number of people that greeted her around town.

Visitation will be Monday,November10, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Duckett-�Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.

Funeral services will be will be held at Clemson First Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 11:00 AM. with interment immediately following at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson , SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Clemson, Building Fund or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621, in appreciation for their extraordinary care of Joyce and the family during her final days.
