Joyce Riden Blackburn, 88, 104 Holiday Lane, Pendleton, passed away April 24, 2013, at her home. Born in Alcoa, TN, she was the daughter of the late Joe R. Riden and Naomi Love Jones Riden.
She was a life-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa, TN, and attended Pendleton United Methodist Church. After serving a combined 23 years as a Pink Lady at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN and AnMed Medical Center, she was still volunteering at Pendleton Elementary School for the 2nd grade classrooms and the school library. She loved old movies and mystery novels.
She is survived by her beloved twin sister, June Fuller of Maryville, TN; daughter, Jo McConnell (Pete) of Pendleton, and son, Kent Woods (Beth) of Canton, GA., grandchildren Greg McConnell (Jane), Randolph, Vermont; Amy Chapman (Jimbo), Greenville, SC; Emily McConnell, Pendleton, SC; Kelly Candler (Scott),Caldwell, Idaho; Daniel Woods (Whitney), Woodstock, GA; Phillip Woods, Canton, GA; Sarah Gardzee (Jason),Brookhaven, GA; Stephanie Hyatt (Blake) ,Ozark, Missouri; and great grandchildren Damaris, Andrea, DeAndra, Lexie, Drew, Ryan, Ginny, Halie and Malikia.
She was predeceased by husbands, Donald Woods and George Blackburn, and brother, Thomas Riden.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held Friday, April 26, at Pendleton United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Ben Barnette. The family will receive friends before the service from 2-3 p.m. in the church parlor.
