Joyce Watkins Burger, 91, beloved wife of the late Montie Morris Burger, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Cherry Watkins and Sarah Wilson Watkins.

Mrs. Burger was a 1957 graduate of Furman University. She retired from the Greenville County School District after 30 years of dedicated service to her students at Welcome Elementary School. She was an avid reader and loved to listen to music. She volunteered with Greenville Hospital System, The Center Stage, and Greenville-Spartanburg Airport. She was also a member of McCarter Presbyterian Church in Greenville.

Surviving are her children, Randy M. Burger of Brigham City, UT, and Suzanne Summers (Timothy) of Sunset, SC; grandchildren, Andrew Summers, Christopher Summers, and Colin Burger.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Hempton.

At Mrs. Burger's request, the family will hold a private service.
