Joyce Howard Ellison, 72, of 226 Trotter Drive, went to be with the Lord Saturday January 16, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital - Downtown.
Mrs. Ellison was born in Greenville, a daughter of the late C.C. and Sarah Janie Burnet Howard. She retired from F & S Textiles and was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and church treasurer, a member of the Forward in Faith Sunday School Class, the Young at Heart Club and was involved with the church food pantry. She was active in the local and national Corvair Auto Club and was a 10 year member of the Thunderbird Square Dance Club.
Surviving are her husband, David C. Ellison, of the home ; two sons, Tony Ellison and his wife, Patti, of Pelzer and David Barry Ellison and his wife, Patty, of Piedmont ; a daughter, Teresa Foster and her husband, Wesley, of Waterloo ; a sister, Louise G. Martin, of Liberty ; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Salem United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pat Wood and the Reverend Howard Addis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service, at the church.
Members of the Corvair Club (CORSA) are invited to serve as Escort of Honor for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church - Food Pantry, 2700 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
The family is at the home.
