Julia M. McGee

Julia Elizabeth McCollum McGee went to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Billy E. McGee on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, peacefully at her home. 
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Julius Alonzo McCollum and Zoa Elizabeth Porter McCollum. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. 

Julia is survived by a sister, LaMerel McCollum Finley, a daughter of Rebecca Elizabeth McGee Hood (David), a son Michael McGee, and a granddaughter Michelle Elizabeth McGee. She is also survived by her grandsons Jonathan David Hood, Justin McGee Hood (Leslie), and Colton Grey McGee, great-grandsons Kaleb David Hood and Hollis Fox Hood as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Julia was predeceased by a grandson Jason Michael McGee as well as a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Shaye McNeely McGee. She is also predeceased by brothers LeGrand McCollum (Beth) and James McCollum (Nina). 

Julia retired from Celanese Corporation. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for her family and others, and working in her yard with her flowers. Called affectionately “Ju Ju” by her family, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. 
The family would like to express their gratitude to “Ju Ju’s” caregivers for their loving care and support. We would especially like to thank Melinda Bridges, Lindsay Anthony, Beth Carroll, and Cherie Keithly. 

Visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, from 1:00 to 1:45 at Rock Springs Church in Easley, South Carolina with services to follow at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, South Carolina. 

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Rock Springs Baptist Church 212 Dayton School Rd., Easley, SC 29642.
