Julia J. Simmons, 79, formerly of Grigsby Avenue, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at The Haven in the Village of Chanticleer.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Seth Julius and Estelle Riggins Simmons, Miss Simmons retired from Multimedia after more than forty years of service and was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are a brother, Rudolph Simmons of Anderson; two sisters, Cleon Sanders of Liberty and Jean Burgess (Bob) of Easley; and many loved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Simmons was predeceased by a brother, Cecil Simmons and by two sisters, Nan Childs and Ruth Ross.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Dr. Alton Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Park Street Baptist Church, 114 Robinson Avenue, Easley, SC 29640 or to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

Family members are at their respective homes.
