Julia Jean Harrison Woodson, loving wife of the late W.E. (Woody) Woodson Jr., passed away peacefully at her home on April 3, 2015. Born on January 21, 1918, she was the youngest daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Julia Ergle Harrison. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Julia Jean is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Leland) White-Shirey of Columbia, SC and Nancy (Michael J.) Welborn of Lawrenceville, GA, seven grandchildren: Maria (Jay) Swygert, Dr. Tracie (Jeff) Brack, Bradford (Laura) White, Todd (Laurie) Welborn, Grace, Faith and Hope Woodson, and eight great- grandchildren: Morgan Swygert, Barrett and Bailey White, Julia, William and Katherine Brack and Olivia and Woodson Welborn. In addition, she had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She also had many wonderful friends she loved who enriched her life especially her "adopted" daughter Alice Shove, her guardian angel neighbors Janie and Waldon Entrekin, and her friend/caregivers Susan Bowen, Christal O'Shea, and Missy Chastain.

In addition to her immediate family, Julia Jean was predeceased by her son Charles H. Woodson in 2003 and her son-in-law Al White in 2012.

Julia Jean was a 1938 graduate of Montreat College. She was a lifelong member of Liberty Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and Elder. In recent years she attended Carmel Presbyterian Church as an associate member. She always loved history and genealogy and was a member of several organizations that cultivated her interest; Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Society of American Colonists, Pickens County Historical Society and American Legion Auxiliary. In 1992, she co-wrote and published "The History of Liberty" with her dear friend Anne Sheriff.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Liberty Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Liberty.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
