Julian L. Wilson

Julian L. Wilson, 100, a resident of the Grove Station Community, went to be with the Lord Saturday March 22, 2008 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Mr. Wilson was born in Belton, SC, a son of the late Claude and Brennie Smith Wilson. He retired in 1972 from the Civil Service and was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, having served in the South Pacific and Japan. He was an avid gardener and a member of Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church.
Surviving is his son, David Wilson and his wife, Evelyn, of Easley ; step-sons, Nelson "Bud" Smith, of Johnston, SC and Richard "Dick" Smith, of Graham, NC ; two step-daughters, Rachel Sheriff and Mary Sue Stewart, both of Greensboro, NC ; two brothers, Roy Wilson, of Travelers Rest and Rev. Clay Wilson, of Piedmont ; two sisters, Lillie "Sissy" Bridges and Zelma Weston, both of Piedmont ; a granddaughter, Anna Wilson, of Greenville ; he was beloved by many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren ; a foster son, Douglas Freeman and his family, of Ohio ; and special friends,Joe Tarrent, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. James Freeman, Ms. Dot Wuske, Bullwhip Griffin, Dorothy Ryer, The Anderson Family, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Wray, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Thompson and many others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives, Emmie Spence Wilson, Susie Smith Wilson and Wilma Holliday Wilson ; a step-daughter, Jean Culberson ; two brothers, Rev. Claude Wilson and Rev. Marvin Wilson; three sisters, Clara Lollis, Beatrice Spence and Zephia Cartee.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Monday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with the Reverend James "Buckshot" Avant and Reverend Clay Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Grove Station Baptist Church Cemetery, Piedmont.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
