Julius Benson "Benny" Roper, 76, of 112 Pineknob Road, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at his home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Julius Earl and Ollie Louise Turner Roper, Mr. Roper retired from Blue Ridge Painting Co. after twenty-nine years of service and was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the US Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Earline Holcombe Roper of the home; a son, Benny Ray Roper of Dallas, TX; a daughter, Patricia L. Spearman and her husband, Ala, of Easley; a half-sister, Vittiea Sheriff of Greenville; four grandchildren, Leslie Roper, Betty Laraine Roper, Bonnie Spearman, and Matthew Spearman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roper was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
