Karen Elaine Bentley Duck, 62, of Campobello, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Born in Slater-Marietta, SC, Karen was a daughter of Jessie Mae Bailey Bentley and the late James Edwin Bentley. She began her career at Homelite in Greer and later attended Greenville Technical College to pursue additional education in CNC Programming. She moved on to become a CNC Operator with GE in Greenville making jet engine blades, something that her son - who was enamored with airplanes - always took great joy in knowing.
Karen loved her boys and taught them a love for the foothills by enjoying it with them in the same way that she grew up; by playing in the streams and fields, searching for arrowheads, looking for four-leaf clovers, and finding the small wonders of the natural world by seeing them through a child’s eyes.
In recent years, Karen found a new calling in caring for aging friends in Columbus, NC, and was an ever-present help to her mother and family in Dacusville. She loved her family fiercely, lived life on her own terms, and forewent self in the service of others. Her final and greatest purpose was in raising and nurturing her grandson, which gave her great joy.
In addition to her mother, Karen is survived by her sons, Perry Melvin Duck (Courtney) and James Michael Duck, both of Inman; her sisters, Dianne Hendrix (Lewis) of Dacusville, Judy Burgess of Williamston, April Whitney (Matt) of Easley; Wanda Gail Bentley of Laurens, and Susan Smith of Mauldin; her brothers, James Bentley (Lisa) of Dacusville, Claude Bentley (Linda) of Travelers Rest, David Bentley (Sandra) of Easley, and Michael Bentley (Kathy) of Travelers Rest; and her grandchildren, Michael Akillez Duck, Emerson Perry Duck, and Delaney Mills Duck.
In addition to her father, Karen was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Bentley and Dean Bentley.
