Katherine Elizabeth Coleman Jones, of Clemson, SC, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on October 17, 2020. She was surrounded by her loving family as she was called home to be with her Heavenly Father.
Katherine, better known in the Clemson area as "Kat," was an avid music enthusiast and had an incredible knowledge of artists and music. She was always a winner playing music trivia! She had an over whelming deep love for animals, owning four "fur babies", Beau, Bailey, Abby and Sammy Sosa. She also developed a love for outdoor hunting, introduced to her by her Uncle Johnny, but of all her passions, she loved her Clemson Tigers.
Growing up in Aiken, SC, Katherine was a competitive sport enthusiast participating in basketball, soccer and golf while in high school. She also danced her way through Social Dance where she was chosen and honored to participate in the Cotillion Club 2001. After graduating from high school, she attended Clemson University and made her debut at the Orangeburg Assembly in December 2003. During her college years she worked at the Esso Club where she met her beloved husband, Carlisle. After their marriage, she worked in the pharmacy department at Walgreens in Easley SC before obtaining a position at Clemson Eye in the finance department. She served on the Greenville Osteosarcoma board, under the guidance of Dr. Scott Porter, whom she developed a lasting friendship with, not only as her sarcoma doctor but as a dear friend.
Katherine was such a blessing to her family and even through her short life on earth, she taught us many valuable lessons….especially how to live by embracing and enduring life even when facing uphill adversities. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile and her strength to never give up. She may have lost her fight with cancer but she won her final battle and is now pain free in the arms of her Creator. Her family takes much comfort knowing we will all be reunited in heaven with her one day.
Katherine is survived by husband, Carlisle Jones, parents, Betsy and Brad Steele of Greenville, Mike and Mary Coleman of Aiken, mother in-law Jane Jones of Seneca, brothers Yates Coleman (Paige) of Aiken, William Coleman (Madison) of Goose Creek, brother-in-law Blake Jones of Clemson, SC and her one and very much loved nephew, Jack Coleman. She is also survived by her grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Rheney of Orangeburg, Mrs Sadie Jones of Clemson and her many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved very much.
Katherine was preceded in death by her father in law, Les Jones, grandparents, John W Rheney, Jr. and Alfred and Lucy Coleman.
