Katherine (Kay) Przondo, 98, widow of William P. Przondo, formerly of Hammond, Indiana, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born in East Chicago, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Mysliwy Podkul. Kay met her husband, Bill, in the choir of St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Catholic Church in East Chicago. She was an avid reader and loved to sew, bake, garden, and travel. She was the family historian and was always there for anyone who needed help. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Munster, Indiana.
Surviving are two daughters, Vivian Byrley of Falls Church, VA and Cynthia (Gerry) Spejewski of Fair Play, SC; brother, Frank Podkul of East Chicago, IN; sister, Michalene Dillon of Hammond, IN; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her favorite pet lab Falstaff.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers Paul Podkul and Mike Patko and son-in-law, Charles A. Byrley.
A chapel interment service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015, in the chapel at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana, with the Rev. John Blakslee officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 ? Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101 (by phone at 800/873-6983) or to a charity of your choice.
