Kathleen "Kathie" Lynn Garton

Kathleen “Kathie” Lynn Garton, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023 in Clemson, SC under the care of Hospice and Clemson Downs Healthcare nursing staff.  

Kathie is preceded in death by her mother, Florence Connor.  She is survived by her husband and life partner of 58 years, John Stanley Garton; her son Eric Garton with his wife Tara and three children Jamie, Julianna and Jacob; her daughter Jessica Loukonen with her husband Aaron and two children Cecilia and Jack. 

Kathie was very devoted to her husband and family.  She greatly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was watching leaves change color on the Blue Ridge Parkway or relaxing on the beach at Pawleys Island, SC.  She had a great talent for teaching small children.  She spent most of her career taking care of children from infancy to preschool age.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all those that knew her. 

A memorial will be scheduled at a later date.  Kathie will be interred at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC.  If desired, memorial donations can be made to The Nature Conservancy.
