April 10, 1949 — April 1, 2025

Seneca

Kathryn “Kathy” Waldron Rohe, 75, of Seneca, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Known for her innate compassion and radiant spirit, Kathy lived a life defined by faith, family, and joy.

Kathy was born on April 10, 1949, in Middletown, Connecticut, To William and Virginia Waldron. After graduating from Southampton High School in 1967, she received her undergraduate degree, and later her master’s in Early Child Development, from SUNY New Paltz.

Kathy’s professional career was grounded in advocacy and empathy, beginning in elementary education as a teacher in Marlboro, New York. She later wrote, and was awarded, a grant for Safe Homes of Orange County, a women’s domestic violence advocacy organization that has grown into Fearless! Hudson Valley, one of the leading authorities on interpersonal abuse and violence in its region. Kathy then returned to her most fervent passion of education as an administrator for several school districts concluding in Carmel, New York. Kathy devoted herself to championing students with learning and developmental challenges as she oversaw a wide range of student support services, always fighting to ensure that no child slipped through the cracks. Her tenure was so successful that even after her retirement, districts continued to seek her guidance-a lasting testament to the depth and power of her impact.

Kathy was a devoted wife to her husband, Daniel Rohe, with whom she shared 42 years of laughter. She was a deeply loving mother to Justin Sandler, Jarred Sandler, and Daniel Rohe, and raised her family in the close-knit community of Cornwall-on -Hudson, New York.

However, nothing brought Kathy more joy than being “Nana.” Her grandchildren were the center of her world, where every shared moment was a celebration.

Kathy’s joy was contagious-her hearty laugh could fill a room, her spirit was playful and kind, and her selflessness knew no bounds. She lived her faith through quiet acts of compassion and gave all she had without hesitation, never failing to see the good in others. Her legacy is defined by courage, kindness, and wholehearted love-and the world is gentler, stronger, and more joyful because she was in it.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Daniel; her children, Justin & Megan Sandler, Jarred Sandler, and Daniel Rohe; her brothers, Ted Waldron, and Tom Waldron; numerous nieces & nephews, and her grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Grace, Ben, Jaylen, Lucas and Ethan.

A memorial service celebrating Kathy’s life will be held privately during what her grandchildren call “Nana Season”. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fearless! Hudson Valley ( http://www.fearlesshv.org ), in honor of Kathy’s lifelong dedication to helping others.

Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
