Kathryn A. Smith

July 12, 1958 — March 5, 2021

Kathryn Abercrombie Smith, 62, of Easley, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021.

Born in Easley, SC, she was the daughter of Barbara J. Abercrombie and the late Harold P. Abercrombie. Kathy was a graduate of Easley High School, and also graduated from Clemson University with Honors in 1980.

Kathy taught 2nd grade at AR Lewis Elementary and retired after 28 years of service. She was a devout Christian and a charter member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, where she served as a council member, taught Sunday School, and served on the Pre-School Board. She also spent time making quilts for those in need through the church's quilt ministry and enjoyed the church's book club. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and Mimi who will be greatly missed.

In addition to her mother of Easley, Kathy leaves behind her loving husband of 40 years, Skip Smith; two daughters, Alicia Nikole Bray (Jon) and Lauren Kathryn Joudeh (Alan); a son, Aaron Christopher Smith (Liz), six grandchildren, Avery Merriman, Chloe Bray, Sawyer Bray, Emma Joudeh, Asa Smith and Cohen Smith; and two brothers, Andy Abercrombie and Don Abercrombie.

Memorial services will take place Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00pm outside on the campus of St. Matthias Lutheran Church. Due to COVID restrictions, masks must be worn and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthias Lutheran Church, 501 Powdersville Road, Ealsey, SC 29642.
