Kathy Bethenia Brooks, 55, died Friday, October 13, 2006, at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Greenville County, the daughter of Blake K. Brooks of Greenville and Nancy Robinson Brooks of Easley, Kathy was a corrections officer with the Greenville County Sheriff's Department and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Sharmin Banister McWhorter and her husband, Daniel Wayne of Easley; a brother, Steven K. Brooks of Greenville; her granddaughter, Carrie Elizabeth McWhorter, her step-mother, Carolyn A. Brooks of Greenville; her step-brother, Danny Griffin, and his wife, Tobie, of Easley; nephews, Jacob and Zachary Griffin, a niece, Sally Griffin; and her fiance, Mr. Rene Contreras of Easley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. John LeHeup officiating. Committal services will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Dale McCoig and Rev. Terry Fowler.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650.
The family is at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sharmin and Daniel Wayne McWhorter.
