Kathy Waldrop Ellison

January 15, 1955 — February 6, 2026

Easley, SC

Kathy Waldrop Ellison, 71, of Easley, loving wife of Roy Charles Ellison, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by her adoring family. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and beloved Nana, who touched the lives of many with her unwavering love and compassion.

Born in Greenville, SC, on January 15, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Jack Charles Waldrop and the late Bobbie Jean Satterfield Waldrop. She attended Siloam Baptist Church, where she served in the youth department for many years.

Her adventurous spirit shone brightly as she traveled making lasting memories with her husband, whom referred to her as his "brown-eyed baby", for an entire year before welcoming their first child. Those travels ignited within her a passion for life that she shared generously with others. Kathy not only loved her family fiercely, but she also had a profound love for everyone around her. Her personality radiated warmth, enveloping all who encountered her with a sense of friendship and belonging.

As a daycare owner in her own home, Kathy was fondly referred to as "Mama Kathy" by the countless children she cared for and cherished. Her nurturing nature and affectionate heart created a warm environment where little ones felt safe, cared for, and celebrated. Kathy embraced her role wholeheartedly, always making time to listen to the stories and laughter of each child, playing an integral role in their early years.

Weekends spent at the lake became a cherished tradition for Kathy — a time filled with laughter, relaxation, and family bonding, where she found solace in nature. She found joy in simple moments and a deep connection to those she loved, always ensuring that each gathering was filled with priceless time together.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Dianne McMahan (Duke).

In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by daughter, Mandy Bennefield (Clint); son, Josh Ellison; grandchildren, Tyler Musselman (Sarah), Reagan Bennefield and Jackson Bennefield; sister, Susie Bartram and brother, Chuck Waldrop (Lori).

Kathy's proudest accomplishments were undeniably her grandchildren. To them, she was not just a grandmother, but a guiding light, an educator, and a true friend. The title of "Nana" encompassed the love she poured into her role, nurturing their dreams and rocking them through life's challenges. She was a cornerstone of their lives, celebrating their achievements and comforting them with her unwavering support.

Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. Kathy Waldrop Ellison's legacy is one of love for family, boundless compassion for children, and the kind of joy that brightens even the darkest days. As we remember her, we hold close the lessons she taught us about kindness, unity, and embracing life fully. Though she may no longer walk beside us, the impact of her love and the memories she created will continue to guide us as we honor her remarkable spirit.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
