Delia Kay Chapman Jones, a beloved mother, talented bookkeeper, and passionate artist, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on April 29, 1938, in Lawton, OK, to the late Woodrow Chapman and the late Jewell Harris Chapman. She grew up in Mineral Wells, TX, with the discipline instilled in her from her military family. Her father served as a Master Sergeant during World War II, while her mother dedicated herself to civil service, playing a crucial role in the war efforts with Motorola. This strong and nurturing upbringing shaped Kay into the resilient, sharp-minded woman many would come to admire.
Kay dedicated her life not just to her own passions but also to the care and nurturing of her family. She was a self-employed bookkeeper, applying her keen mind to manage accounts and handle taxes for numerous trucking companies, continuing to work until her late 80s. Her commitment to her work was paralleled by her incredible ability to balance the demands of running a farm with cattle and a successful business while raising two boys and providing a stable and loving home for her family, a feat that showcased her unwavering strength.
With a love for life that shone brightly, Kay was an avid traveler. Her adventures included a memorable biblical tour across Europe, where she explored her faith and deepened her spiritual connections. Her strong faith was a cornerstone of her life; a proud member of Siloam Baptist Church, she nurtured her community with kindness and compassion.
Beyond her work and family, Kay was known for her artistic talents. She was an accomplished artist, enjoying painting and creating ceramics in her free time. Her creativity extended to her love for flower gardening, where she found joy and beauty in nurturing her vibrant garden. Kay's love for animals, particularly horses, further showcased her gentle and caring nature.
Kay was a spirited individual who also captivated hearts in her youth by modeling and becoming a member of the Eastern Star, reflecting her multifaceted personality. Throughout her life, she held the world on her shoulders, embodying a sense of duty and responsibility that inspired all who knew her.
She is survived by sons, Christopher K. Jones (Christine) and James "Chip" Jones Jr.; grandchildren, Daniel Jones (Shelby), Dustin Jones, and his fiancée, EmmaJoe.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Wayne Wicks, and the father of her children, James Ray Jones.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:15 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, with her Celebration of Life to follow at 1:30 PM in the chapel. Entombment will be held in the Chapel of Reflections Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that if you feel led to make a memorial donation in Kay's honor instead of sending flowers, please do so to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org or at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Kay Jones leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and creativity that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered, her spirit living on in the many memories she crafted and the life lessons she imparted to her family and community.
